Tithe or offering?

The tithe was intended to be given willingly, cheerfully and joyfully as a love offering, a glad tiding. This is why the Christian biblical texts refer to tithing as a free-will offering. Your tithe was to be given of your own free will, not out of any sense of duty or obligation. (read more in Chapter 1 of Giving Thanks: The Art of Tithing)

No more fear of tithing

You may struggle with tithing because you think you are giving away 10% of what is yours instead of giving thanks for the 100% you’ve been given by passing along 10% as seed money for the future. As you work to overcome this fear, start the habit of giving a set percentage regularly (even 1%) until you can give a full 10% tithe — or more! Tithing often causes ripples and changes in your life that may seem like the exact opposite of what you think you want, need and desired. How to become a better receiver

Learning to be a better receiver is as important as learning how to be a better giver. Become open and receptive to receiving the good that comes to you, by making a mental shift in how you view tithes. Many people (and I admit to being one of them when I first began tithing!) view tithes as charity or some sort of handout, which we view negatively.
