Welcome to Day 13 of our 30 day celebration of the 5th Anniversary of
Giving Thanks: The Art of Tithing, by Paula Langguth Ryan – where we’re answering 30 questions about tithing!

Dear Paula,

I receive your newsletter email and inspirational information. I would like your advice and input on what to do next in my life from where I am at. At present, I have no regular income. I had to stop working as I was standing for long hours which caused pains to develop in my feet and ankles I am in the process of looking for other ways of bringing in income. I sold my home as I felt that I would have to leave my job because of the pain, and I am living off the proceeds from selling my home.

I have been tithing for years, and I have already tithed on the proceeds I received from the sale of the home. I would like to continue giving my tithe, but I how do I tithe with money when there is no steady income flowing in as before? Should I just keep giving a monthly tithe anyway of an amount I feel comfortable with, to keep up the flow of prosperity?

I am looking into volunteering my time and energy, at a place where I feel I can make a difference.. I also have debts to be paid off but I have not paid them off yet as I am holding on to the money, because I am living off it. Should I pay off these debts first, even though I have no formal regular income flowing in at this time? Will paying off these debts help me to move forward and receive new income from new sources? I feel stuck in a cycle of procrastination, clutter and debt.

I feel that that now is a time to study and learn something new to generate new income source, but not sure what & am looking for something affordable at this time. I also meditate, pray, and do affirmations and EFT and other self help things, to help myself through this time, but I feel I am lacking support and help from others also.

I am sending you a tithe for your help and inspiration. Thank You and Many Blessings of Prayers, Love and Light. – Klaire

Dear Klaire,

To answer your questions: the flow of prosperity comes from cheerfully giving. Because you’ve already tithed on your house proceeds, tithe on what comes to you each day. This will keep you in the flow. We may not have a steady income of a weekly paycheck, for example, but we receive all the time.

Wherever there is clutter in your house and in your life, start to use your time to remove that clutter if you already haven’t done so (my dear friend Janet Hall and I wrote an e-book on the connection between clutter and debt called Effortless Freedom From Clutter and Debt that you might find helpful.

As for the debt itself, I would recommend setting yourself up with a spending plan so you know what flows in and out each month, and then create a payment plan to pay down the debt. That way you don’t deplete your nestegg, but you do manage to get things moving forward toward a debt free life. Another great tool is Break the Debt Cycle — For Good! It’s a CD and workbook of my most popular workshop. You can also get it as an instant downloadable mp3.

If you’re still confused, it’s easier for me to help you look through your options if I’m actually able to talk with you and ask you specific questions to see what the best options are given your financial situation and your comfort level. I offer Considering Your Options Consultations for folks who are at a crossroads financially. A consultation lasts 30 minutes and is $250. If I can be of service in any way, please let me know.

Peace and prosperity,

Paula Langguth Ryan
